Virtual and augmented reality and 3D models can expand journalists’ toolkits for how they cover a story.

Join the Tow Center on Friday October 27 from 4-6pm for a discussion introducing how to think about story planning, gathering and editing for a three dimensional news format.

If you’re interested and want to work on your first 3D project, join us again on Saturday from 1-4pm for a workshop where you will have a chance to roll up your sleeves make your first 3D rendering! Attendees will try their hand at using stock assets to compose and host a beginner 3D project. Don’t forget to bring your laptop!

The instructor is Henry Keyser. He is a Columbia Adjunct, Director of DemocratizeXR, and former Director of XR Editorial at Yahoo. He has led newsrooms to cover more than 300 stories in VR and AR.

For all settings, the University continues to strongly recommend that affiliates stay home if they feel unwell and isolate according to CDC guidelines if they test positive for COVID-19.
