Technology, Truth & Propaganda: How Journalists Are Using Visual Forensics to Cover the Israel-Hamas War
In every war, journalists are forced to confront disinformation, propaganda, and misinformation, but the Israel-Hamas war has unleashed new challenges for journalists seeking to verify, fact-check and cover it. Amidst this war, journalists specializing in visual forensics and open-source intelligence (OSINT) tools have pioneered new journalism that has helped illustrate the realities of the conflict and decipher false claims. Speakers include BBC Verify's Shayan Sardarizadeh and Haley Willis and Ishaan Jhaveri of the New York Times' Visual Investigations Team.
