Large Language Models like ChatGPT are powerful platforms for prototyping new AI tools. We are just starting to explore the use of these models for the production and circulation of journalism. In parallel, standards are emerging for how to incorporate AI into reporting.
Each month (the second Wednesday of every month) we will meet for three hours to experiment, to build, to try things out. What works well? Where are there problems? How do we, as journalists, adapt? How do we report “on” as well as “with” these new platforms? Come with a project you'd like to work on, or partner with a classmate to come up with something. We'll also have some specific newsroom tasks if you're interested. This week we plan for a couple special guests to be on hand to help.
