CJS2030 News

The 2024 ceremony highlighted and honored the outstanding audio and video reporting in the public interest of the last year.

The $100,000 scholarship is awarded annually to a student who is a resident of Asia and specializes in data or business reporting.

The Hispanic Organization of Latin Actors awarded Professor Benítez its Excellence in Television Award. 

Gisela Winckler will serve as its inaugural Climate Scientist in Residence for fall 2023

“It is vital that current and future journalists really understand how to report on climate issues,” said Professor Duy Linh Tu. “The science is complicated, and the politics and misinformation of the day make it increasingly important for journalists to get it right.” 

The Oakes jury said that the international documentary series “provides an exceptionally vivid and intimate look at climate change’s impact on people and wildlife living in the Himalayas among the world’s highest mountains.”
