Alma Beauvais, '22 M.S., joined The Trace as the first-ever editorial assistant in their Brooklyn office. Beauvais has interned for The Nation and The Miami Herald and wrote for The Haitian Times and The West Georgian.
Angela Chen '10 M.S., of KESQ received a 2024 regional Edward R. Murrow award for her latest broadcast series, "Troubled Waters: Colorado River Crisis," exploring the effects of chronic overuse and climate change on the Colorado River.
Investigative journalist Clara-Sophia Daly, ‘22 M.S., has joined a vital beat at the Miami Herald as their Education Reporter.
Bianca Pallaro, ‘21 M.S., joined The New York Times as a data reporter on the Data Journalism team.
Rubina Fillion, '07 M.S., and Duy Nguyen, senior machine-learning engineer at the Brown Institute’s Local News Lab, were named inaugural members of the A.I. Initiatives Team at The New York Times. These journalists are charged with leveraging generative artificial intelligence and other forms of machine learning for the benefit of our journalists and readers while ensuring The Times’s use of these technologies remains effective and responsible.
Jordan Gonsalves, ‘23 M.S., premiered a podcast with iHeartPodcasts this May. “But We Loved” shares the narratives that Gonsalves wanted to hear when coming of age. Through intimate interviews with LGBTQ+ elders, he uncovers the untold stories of queer history.
Ellie Ismailidou, '13 M.S., received a Webby nomination for the online video series Explainomics, which airs on MarketWatch and The Wall Street Journal Digital Network. Explainomics is a series of financial explainers that aims to empower everyday people with the knowledge and information to make better money decisions.
Mona Lalwani, '14 M.A. Arts and Culture, was welcomed to the New York Times video team as their new senior executive producer. She will “help grow and guide the team that produces videos featuring reporting — and often reporters — from across the newsroom.”
Aaron Scott, '09 M.S. was selected as one of ten investigators charged with advancing science reporting for the public good with Knight Science Journalism at MIT.
Theresa Vargas, '01 M.S. was promoted to Local Enterprise Editor for the Washington Post. In this position, she will oversee high-impact accountability reporting, incisive narratives and conceptual scoops, work with a team of reporters on a range of issues that impact communities and contribute to the coverage of stories.
Janmaris Perez, ‘20 M.S., Audio Journalist and Podcast Producer for MSNBC, won two Webby awards for the podcast “Prosecuting Donald Trump.”
Jaden Edison, ‘22 M.S., is joining The Texas Tribune as their K-12 education reporter. He will take on one of The Texas Tribune’s most urgent and high-profile beats.
Daniel Shailer, ‘23 M.S., is a finalist for a national award from the Association for Alternative Newsmedia for his environmental reporting at the Tucson Sentinal.
Christina Shaman, ‘19 M.S., is joining the New York Times as a Video Journalist on the organization's Reporter Video Team to identify compelling stories and bring depth and breadth to news through video.
Ten Columbia Journalism School alumni received “Magic Grants” from the Brown Institute for Media Innovation to advance technology and news media while developing groundbreaking platforms for powerful journalism.
