Join us for an information session and lunch time chat on the ever evolving nature of information warfare reporting
The ability to determine fact from fiction has become increasingly challenging in an era of AI-generated news slop and algorithms that reward sensationalism over accuracy. Information warfare, the deliberate manipulation of information and information sources, complicates things even further. Knowing how to cut through the noise and ascertain the truth is a vitally important skill for today’s journalists.
Join the Tow Center for Digital Journalism in launching the Information Warfare Reporting Guide on Thursday, October 15, 2026 at 12:00 pm. Mingle with contributors during our lunch and sit in on a conversation between Emily Bell (founding director of the Tow Center), Michael Keller (New York Times investigative reporter), and Stuart Anderson-Davis (doctoral researcher at Columbia Journalism School) as they discuss the guide as well as the information landscape approaching the midterms.
The Information Warfare Reporting Guide is designed as a crash course in the field: what it is, where it came, where it stands today, and where it’s headed. The guide features Q&As with leading scholars and journalists, reporting from previous students, insights from historians and experts, and a practical how-to section covering the essential tools and techniques.
