Trevin M. Smith

Trevin Smith is a video journalist and documentary filmmaker, focusing on workers rights, misinformation and the food industry. His work has appeared in print, online, television, and film festivals across the U.S. Having cooked professionally for 10-years, Trevin utilizes his passion and creativity instilled under the many chefs he has cooked under in the visual stories he tells today.

Trevin was educated at Castro Valley High School in the East Bay Area, Las Positas College, San Jose State University and Columbia’s Graduate School of Journalism, where he earned his MS in 2020. He currently serves on the Journalism & Media Studies advisory board at Las Positas College and has led efforts to introduce media literacy education in elementary schools in California.

Trevin is a FASPE Journalism alumni and the lead producer at Borough 6 Creative LLC, a production company he founded in 2024. He is currently producing a documentary following food delivery app drivers in New York City that reveals the dangers they regularly endure.
