Trevin M. Smith
Trevin Smith is a video journalist and documentary filmmaker, focusing on workers rights, misinformation and the food industry. His work has appeared in print, online, television, and in film festivals across the U.S. Having cooked professionally for 10 years, he utilizes his passion and creativity instilled under the many chefs he cooked under in the visual stories he tells today.
Trevin was educated at Castro Valley high School in the East Bay Area, Las Positas College, San Jose State University and Columbia’s Graduate School of Journalism, where he earned his MS in 2020. He currently serves on the Journalism & Media Studies advisory board at Las Positas College and has led efforts to introduce journalism into elementary school teaching in California.
Trevin was a 2022 FASPE Journalism Fellow and is a Producer/Editor at VERIFY. He is currently producing a documentary following food delivery app drivers around New York that reveals the dangers they regularly endure.
