Naomi I. Starobin

Naomi teaches audio journalism courses and drops into other classes to help with voice coaching. She is passionate about the power of audio and loves seeing students master audio journalism. During her public media career, she has been a fact-checker, reporter, managing editor, broadcast and podcast ("Grapple") host, news director, and program director.

She is the news director at WAMU, Washington, D.C.'s public radio station and local news site. In the past, she has worked at WHYY (Philadelphia), WSHU (Fairfield, CT) and Consumer Reports magazine. She has also helped news teams at WKMS in Murray, KY , Aspen Public Radio, and WDIY in Pennsylvania.

Before becoming a journalist, was an environmental scientist and a ranger for the National Park Service. Still has the hat.
