Edward G. Deitch
Edward Deitch is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Journalism who advises students on their in-depth master's thesis projects. Until the spring of 2025, he was a senior producer, producer, editor and writer for the NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, Brian Williams and Tom Brokaw. He managed, produced and wrote thousands of domestic, political and foreign stories for the program, guiding and mentoring correspondents and producers in the field and the teams that put them together in New York and in other NBC News bureaus. Before NBC, he was a writer and editor at CBS News, on the CBS Morning News and on CBS News Radio, where he wrote and produced the hourly broadcasts for Charles Osgood and many other correspondents. Before his broadcast career he was a print journalist, serving as a New York reporter for United Press International and as a copy boy and part-time reporter for The New York Times, his first job after graduating from Columbia College of Columbia University. He is currently a freelance writer-producer for CNN, mainly on The Situation Room broadcast with Wolf Blitzer and Pamela Brown. He has won multiple Emmy Awards as well as duPont-Columbia, Edward R. Murrow and Sigma Delta Chi Awards, among others.
For more than 20 years, he has also been a wine writer and critic for NBC News.com and other websites and is currently a columnist and editor for VinePair, where he writes a twice-monthly column and is the site's copy editor. He has traveled extensively in the wine world in Europe, South Africa and the United States. He is the recipient of a James Beard Award and was nominated for a second one.
He is an expert on visual, audio and digital storytelling, reporting and production.
