Bing Guan

Bing Guan is a Chinese American photographer and journalist, living and working in New York City. His personal work explores the formation of memory, identity, and subcultures, often in relationship to conflict and migration.

His photographs have been featured in Bloomberg Businessweek, The Intercept, The Marshall Project, The New York Times, Politico, ProPublica, Reuters, The Sunday Times Magazine, TIME, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, and WIRED, among other publications.

Bing's work has been recognized by Creative Capital, American Photography, and the Parsons School of Design. He has been the recipient of residential fellowships from the Ucross Foundation and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. His work is represented in the permanent collection of the George Eastman Museum.

He attended Dartmouth College and holds a B.A. cum laude in history from Columbia University.
