Aida Alami

Aida Alami is a Moroccan reporter usually based in Rabat, Morocco, and Paris, and now, in New York City. She mainly covers migration, human rights, religion, and race. She has reported from North Africa, the Middle East, Europe, the United States, Haiti, the Dominican Republic and Senegal.

She’s been a regular contributor to the New York Times since 2011 but writes for other places such as the New York Review of Books. She was a contributor to the best-selling book, “Our Women on the Ground: Essays by Arab Women Reporting from the Arab World,” and is a graduate of the Columbia School of Journalism. She is currently finishing a documentary feature on civil rights in France. She grew up in Marrakesh and is fluent in French and Arabic.
