All That Remains: Screening and Discussion
All That Remains follows Leyan Abu Al-Atta, a 13-year-old girl from Gaza who lost her leg in an Israeli airstrike, as she seeks medical treatment in the U.S. Through stunning cinematography and verité-style storytelling, the documentary follows Leyan’s journey as she attempts to walk on her own again with a prosthetic leg. All That Remains is at once a moving testament to the power of a young girl’s spirit and a family’s love in the face of this life-altering injury (watch the trailer here).
Nominated for a News & Documentary Emmy and winner of the 2025 Dart Award for Excellence in Coverage of Trauma, the documentary, from Fault Lines, Al Jazeera English’s award-winning documentary program, is the first film to focus specifically on the plight of child amputees in Gaza and the most intimate portrait yet of what lies ahead for the thousands of Palestinian children who must live with these medically complicated injuries. According to the U.N., Gaza is now home to the highest number of child amputees per capita in the world.
The screening will be followed by a conversation with Rhana Natour, Director and Producer, and Azmat Khan, Director, Simon and June Li Center for Global Journalism.
