The Part-Time M.S. Program Celebrates A Quarter Century
Spring 2018 marks the 25th anniversary of the first graduating class of the part-time M.S. program. This program was launched in 1991 by former Dean Joan Konner as a flexible option for those who wanted to hold on to their day jobs while completing the degree. Since 1993, the part-time program has graduated nearly 900 students.
To commemorate this milestone, a Part-Time Scholarship Fund has been created where donors can contribute in support of part-time students' access to a world-class Columbia Journalism School education.
Members of the Part-time Alumni community spread across the world are participating, with the goal of raising $40,000 in support of scholarship aid for the incoming class.
The part-time program attracts many career changers and has graduated Pulitzer winners like Robin McDowell CJS '93 and Amy Ellis Nutt CJS '95.
